Launching the 'Green Journey - Against the Current of the Lam River' campaign.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 3rd, the Green Journey Social Activities Organization launched the "Green Journey - Against the Current of the Lam River" program, beginning a volunteer journey through 6 districts and cities in the province.

In response to the 2017 summer volunteer activities, the "Green Journey - Against the Current of the Lam River" program in Nghe An took place from July 3rd to 20th, traveling along both banks of the Lam River from Vinh City to Tuong Duong.

With the participation of 52 volunteers in blue uniforms from many provinces and cities across the country, the group held a departure ceremony at Dang Thai Mai Secondary School (Vinh City), offered incense and flowers at Ho Chi Minh Square, and then moved to Kim Lien (Nam Dan) - the first destination in the journey from Kim Lien (Nam Dan) - My Son (Do Luong) - Hoa Son (Anh Son) - Chau Khe (Con Cuong) - Yen Tinh (Tuong Duong).

The "Green Journey - Against the Current of the Lam River" program will include activities such as cycling campaigns to raise awareness about the environment and traffic safety; coordinating with local authorities to organize irrigation projects, canal dredging, and rural road construction; painting, repairing, and renovating school grounds; planting trees in dilapidated schools; community cultural exchanges; and visiting and giving gifts to victims of Agent Orange and underprivileged students.

The program is a multi-day experience exploring the countryside of Nghe An province, along with meaningful volunteer activities for the community. It not only helps local people in the areas the group visits, but also gives volunteers the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, hone their life skills and social work skills, and inspire a proactive spirit among young people and love for their homeland.
