Folk first aid tips for bee stings

- Toothpaste has an anesthetic effect, immediately reducing pain and swelling. Besides, it helps neutralize the venom of the stinger. Apply toothpaste to the wound for about half an hour.

- Apply quick lime to the burn.

- Take a teaspoon of onion juice and rub it on the bee sting area, then use tweezers to remove the stinger.

- 1 raw taro root, cut into pieces and rub on the sting to help relieve pain.

- Crush a few cloves of garlic and apply to the wound, tie with a cloth and wait for half an hour then remove.

- Take purslane or crushed chives and apply on the wound, or slice fresh ginger and rub on the wound.

- For poisonous bees, crush amaranth and rub it on the sting.

- Crush chrysanthemum leaves and rub on the sting 5-7 times a day.

- Take leaves, vines, and crushed roots of the plant and apply to the burn.

- Crush banana leaves to get juice or chew the leaves to get the juice. Apply it on the sting to reduce the pain.

- Use taro roots and leaves to rub on the affected area.

- Soak tobacco in water (or crush it) and apply it to the burn.

- If stung by a yellow jacket (bumblebee), apply brown sugar or vinegar immediately to the wound.

- Use wet tea grounds, no matter how much or how little, to rub on the affected area to help relieve pain.

- 1 fresh flower (any kind of flower), rub on the burned area to help reduce swelling immediately.

- 15g fresh hibiscus leaves, add a little salt, crush, then apply to the sting.

- Cut a fresh branch of the frangipani tree at a 45 degree angle, shake off the sap, and rub it in one direction several times on the bee sting. The venom will come off and the pain and swelling will stop.

- Crush kumquat seeds and leaves, apply on the burn.

- Rub fresh young bamboo shoots on the sting.

- Apply calamine solution (usually applied to burns to relieve pain) or sodium hydroxide to the wound, which neutralizes and absorbs the venom. Cover the wound with a bandage.
