Busting a huge drug ring that chose hotels for transactions

(Baonghean.vn) - Choosing two large hotels in Vinh City to hide and trade, the inter-provincial drug ring was still discovered and eliminated by authorities.

Vinh City Police have just successfully broken up Project 717D, ​​eliminating an inter-provincial drug trafficking ring, arresting 3 subjects, seizing 1.2 kg of crystal meth; 1,000 MTTH pills; 1 Hyundai i10 BK 37A-319.70 car; 3 cell phones and 220 million VND in cash.

The identities of the subjects were determined: Nguyen Thi Kim Anh (born in 1978), residing in Tan Tien block, Hung Dung ward, Vinh city; Vo Ngoc Anh (born in 1981), residing in Quang Trung block, Quang Tien ward, Thai Hoa town and Huynh Hung (born in 1990), residing in Tan Minh block, Nghia Dan town, Nghia Dan. In which, Vo Ngoc Anh plays the role of boss, leading the operation of this drug ring.

Previously, in early July 2017, after a period of monitoring, Vinh City Police discovered a drug trafficking ring from Thai Hoa Town and Nghia Dan to distribute to drug dealers in Vinh City. Immediately after verifying the source of information, the unit established Project 717D to fight and eradicate it.

After a period of active investigation and verification, the Task Force has established the subjects in this network. As the organizer and leader, Vo Ngoc Anh, with a long history of "achievements", had 3 previous convictions for illegal drug trafficking and possession, managed his network to successfully carry out many transactions and became a famous drug dealer in Thai Hoa Town.

The goods that Ngoc Anh gathered in Thai Hoa before bringing to Vinh for consumption were mainly taken from Laos, transported by unofficial routes to the mountainous district of Que Phong, then distributed to wholesalers in Thai Hoa town, Nghia Dan and Vinh city. Ngoc Anh was in charge of the transaction, negotiating with the suppliers in Vinh city and receiving the money, while Huynh Hung was in charge of the delivery.

An important link in this chain is Nguyen Thi Kim Anh, although her 6-year prison sentence for fraud and appropriation of property is currently suspended. She is the person who receives Ngoc Anh's goods and then distributes them to neighboring provinces and Vinh City.

After many days of monitoring the movements of the subjects in the ring, the detectives received information on July 27 that this ring would organize transactions with a very large quantity of goods in Vinh City, so they decided to "take the net".

As expected, on July 27, the detective discovered Ngoc Anh in Vinh City, then rented room 606 of Lam Giang Hotel on Quang Trung Street (Vinh City) as a transaction location. With his cunning, to avoid being detected, the subject continued to rent another room at Thuong Hai Hotel in Le Loi Ward to distract the authorities, then continued to return to Lam Giang Hotel.

At 8:00 p.m. the same day, detectives discovered Ngoc Anh meeting Huynh Hung at Lam Giang Hotel. They assumed that Hung might be carrying goods to deliver to a partner as directed by Ngoc Anh, so the detectives followed the subject. After meeting, the two subjects got into a Huyndai I10 car, license plate: 37A-319.70 and moved to the Thuong Hai Hotel. Here, the two subjects left the car and traveled around by taxi to avoid being followed by the authorities. After that, Kim Anh also appeared at the Thuong Hai Hotel.

At 2 a.m. Hung and Ngoc Anh returned to the Shanghai hotel. After sitting in the car for a while observing, seeing that there was no sign of the authorities, Hung got out of the car and went into the hotel to get a room, while Ngoc Anh remained in the car.

Realizing that the suspects were about to conduct a transaction, the detectives closed the siege. The task force suddenly broke into the hotel room in Shanghai and caught Kim Anh red-handed with evidence of 1.2 kg of crystal meth and a cell phone, while Hung had quickly escaped before that.

At this time, Ngoc Anh saw the commotion so he quickly drove away from the hotel, he drove into the small alleys of Vinh City to lose the detectives. After realizing that the detectives were no longer following him, he drove back to Lam Giang Hotel to get the money he had hidden in his room. As soon as the Huyndai I10 stopped at the hotel, the detectives suddenly rushed in to control and arrest Ngoc Anh, searched room 606 of the Task Force and seized 220 million VND in cash and 1 mobile phone.

After leaving the hotel, Huynh Hung knew that his accomplices were arrested, so he quickly took a bus back to Thai Hoa town to hide. The detectives of the Special Investigation Committee used professional measures to track Hung and discovered that he was hiding at Ngoc Anh's house. By the afternoon of July 28, the detectives arrested Huynh Hung and searched Ngoc Anh's house and seized 1,000 more MTTH pills.

Currently, the Special Investigation Committee is expanding the investigation of the case.
