Although they were born decades ago, the powerful, attractive beauty of sports cars from major brands still cannot be overshadowed by their successors.

In the list of timeless sports cars voted by CNN in 2017, names such as Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, Porsche, Aston Martin, Toyota, Chevrolet, Lamborghini, Maserati, BMW, Lotus are indispensable. Although the value of these cars has changed over time, their trendy and classy appearance has not diminished compared to their peak popularity in the 60s of the last century.

Alfa Romeo Spider

This model was designed by Pininfarina and was one of dozens of sports cars leading the market since 1967, especially after its image appeared on the Hollywood big screen, making sports car enthusiasts even more fascinated.

Toyota 2000GT

This model was Japan's answer to Jaguar's E-series and the legendary Porsche 911. Upon its appearance, the Toyota 2000 GT immediately became a phenomenon with its curvaceous design and outstanding performance.

Toyota's convertible in the James Bond film was considered a "lucky hit". The 2000 GT was originally produced as a coupe, but because Connery was taller than the car's original height, Toyota removed the top of the 2000 GT so the actor could use it. Toyota only produced 351 2000 GTs at that time.

Ford Mustang

In North America, Steve McQueen drove a Ford Mustang GT Fastback through the streets of San Francisco in Bullitt (1968). The car became an instant star among Hollywood fans. Then, in 1964, James Bond's Goldfinger introduced the world to two Mustangs: a white convertible and a natural yellow Fastback.

By 1967, Carroll Shelby - an American racer and engine engineer famous for the AC Cobra - had improved the Ford Mustang into the much more powerful Shelby GT350 and GT500.

Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray C2

First introduced in 1953, Chevrolet then sharpened the Corvette's curves to create the rugged-looking Sting Ray C2 in the early 60s. By 1967, the upgraded V8-powered Sting Ray C2 had become a "worth the money" model in the US market.

Lamborghini Miura

This was Europe's first supercar and a personal challenge from Ferruccio Lamborghini to Ferrari.

The boss of Lamborghini once assessed that Ferraris launched in the 60s lacked the reliability and sophistication that supercar customers demanded. Lamborghini's Miura model had a top speed of 290km/h.

Ferrari 275 GTB - 4

Enzo's car, the Ferrari 275 GTB/4, is still considered one of the most valuable cars in the world. With a body designed by Pininfarina and a quad-cam V12 engine, the 275GTB/4 was slower than the Miura, but Road & Track magazine still said: "This is the most demanding sports car in the world." To date, the auction value of the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is three times higher than that of the Lamborghini Miura, according to auction house Gooding & Co.

Jaguar E-Type

Beyond the sense of comparison, Enzo Ferrari once called the E-Type the most beautiful car in the world, when it debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961.

The E-Type's design lines represented exactly what customers around the world expected from a sports car at the time.
