On the afternoon of June 6, Colonel Tran Muu - Deputy Director of Da Nang City Police said that the police agency had transferred suspect Huynh Khac Vinh (22 years old, residing in Quang Nam, currently a university student) from Hoi An to Da Nang for investigation.

Male student robbed a gold shop alone

According to Colonel Muu, initially the police determined that only Vinh carried out the robbery of Dai Loi Chanh gold shop (Le Van Hien street, Ngu Hanh Son district, Da Nang) on the evening of June 5.

According to Colonel Muu, initial information was that when the robbery occurred, there was also another young man sitting on a Wave motorbike near the scene, so initially the police determined that the robbery was caused by two suspects (suspected that the Wave motorbike rider was an accomplice, driving Vinh to escape).

However, after investigation, the police clarified that when the robbery took place, the young man riding the Wave motorbike only witnessed it and did nothing. The fact that this person appeared at the scene of the robbery was just a coincidence, and was not Vinh's accomplice.

"I personally worked with suspect Vinh and initially determined that only Vinh committed the crime," said Colonel Muu.

All night searching for traces of the gold shop robber

Sharing about the investigation process, Colonel Tran Muu said that as soon as receiving the report, Ngu Hanh Son District Police, Criminal Police Department (Da Nang Police) and professional departments of the City Police urgently entered the scene and examined the crime scene.

At the same time, the police also set up many reconnaissance teams to capture the suspect with the determination not to let him escape.

From the identifying features described by witnesses and residents, and the traces left at the scene of the Dai Loi Chanh gold shop, the police gradually narrowed down the suspect.

Throughout the night, the reconnaissance force followed the suspect's trail. Sometimes, they received information that the suspect was in Lien Chieu district, and sometimes, they received information that the suspect was still in Ngu Hanh Son.

According to Colonel Muu, Vinh previously passed the entrance exam to F. University (located in Da Nang) but dropped out. He then went to P. University (located in Hoi An) to study.

From this clue, the Da Nang police task force determined the suspect's location, closed the siege and arrested Vinh on the morning of June 6.

After being arrested, Vinh was taken to Hoi An City police station for questioning. There, Vinh admitted that he was the one who robbed Dai Loi Chanh gold shop.

After being extradited to Da Nang to serve the investigation, Vinh initially confessed that he was in debt to the bank and was in dire straits, so he robbed a gold shop to get money to pay off the debt.

To carry out the plan, Vinh borrowed a motorbike from his friend and drove from Quang Nam to Da Nang. When he left, Vinh brought a backpack, ice, and a sharp knife.

When arriving in front of Dai Loi Chanh gold shop, Vinh stopped his motorbike about 15m away from the gold shop, walked in, used a rock to break the glass door of the gold cabinet, collected the gold and ran away.

Previously, according to information from Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Chairman of Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee, after hearing the shouts of robbery, people near the gold shop joined in chasing the subject.

Mr. Ngo Moi - the head of the neighborhood group, while chasing a gold shop robber, was hit and broke his right leg and had to be taken to the emergency room.
