To have money for personal spending and shopping, Thai thought of leaving his hometown to commit theft. Upon receiving the report from the victims' families, considering the reckless nature of the criminal, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Tuan - Chief of Thai Hoa Town Police assigned the Criminal Investigation Police Team on Criminal - Economic - Drug Crimes to establish a special project with code 517T and directed to quickly investigate, clarify, and arrest the criminal as soon as possible.
While the detectives were implementing their plans, Thai broke into the house of Mr. Gian Viet Bien, residing in Dong Tam 2 block, Hoa Hieu ward, broke the safe and stole 1,700,000 VND in cash, 3 rings, including 2 wedding rings and 1 silver ring.
After having enough documents to identify Thai as the subject who caused a series of property thefts in the area, from here on all of Thai's movements were put into the "sights" of the detectives.
On May 29, Thai was discovered walking to the Dong Tam 2 block area, Hoa Hieu ward, and was followed by secret detectives. When they discovered that no one was home at Ms. Luong Thi Yen's (33 years old) house, Thai climbed over the main gate, used a hoe to break the cement pattern of the door, bent the iron bars, and then broke into the house.
While he was searching for stolen property, detectives from the Special Investigation Team raided and caught him red-handed, seizing 1,790,000 VND in cash, a SEIKO watch, and a NOKIA-1280 mobile phone.
