Recently, the Vietnam Register has announced a recall of 4,218 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Pajero Sport vehicles due to a defect in the rear door shock absorber system.
Specifically, in this recall, there will be 943 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicles with serial number GA2WXTHHL, manufactured from 2014 - 2016 and similar models with serial number GA2WXTSHL manufactured from 2014 - 2015 to check and replace the rear door shock absorbers on the vehicles.

According to the recall notice, the rear door shock absorber is filled with gas, and the rear door shock absorber outer tube cap may rust due to insufficient anti-corrosion coating. If the rear door shock absorber is used while it is rusting, the rear door shock absorber outer tube cap may rupture due to the tube expanding during the rusting process.
In the worst case, people standing around the rear door may be injured by the outer tube of the rear door shock absorber breaking off and flying at the moment the rear door is opened and/or may cause the rear door to suddenly fall down during use, potentially causing injury to the user.
For Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Pajero Sport vehicles imported into Vietnam but not on the recall list announced by MMV, when customers contact MMV, we will contact Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) to check and confirm. If subject to recall and receive a repair request from MMC, MMV will carry out the repair according to the announced program.
The product recall will take place at all authorized dealers and service stations of Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam Co., Ltd. nationwide from August 1 to July 31, 2019. The inspection and repair is expected to last 0.5 hours per vehicle. Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam and authorized dealers will inspect and repair the affected vehicles free of charge.
