The Yaris Ativ sedan is based on the current Vios but has a new name, new design and customized engines according to regulations for small eco-cars.

A week after Toyota Motor Thailand released a teaser for the new Yaris, exterior photos of the compact sedan were revealed by Headlight magazine. The new model is scheduled to be introduced in mid-August.

As one of the most notable launches in the Thai market this year, the Yaris Ativ sedan is also a new product of Toyota, and is also an eco-car - a cheap car.

Possessing a new design, although based on the current Vios, the Yaris Ativ also uses a small-capacity engine to comply with the strict regulations of the Thai government on eco-cars with a limit of only 1.2 liters.

The current Yaris hatchback version is also an eco-car with a 1.2-liter engine, while the Vios uses a 1.5. The Yaris Ativ is Toyota's first eco-car sedan and will compete directly with the Honda Brio Amaze, Mitsubishi Attrage and Suzuki Ciaz.

The front and rear of the Yaris Ativ are said to be inspired by the Toyota Corolla.

The Yaris Ativ is powered by a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder Dual VVT-i engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The new sedan's figures could be slightly better than the Yaris hatchback's 84 horsepower and 108 Nm of torque.

In terms of design, the Yaris Ativ seems to be inspired by the Toyota Corolla in the front and rear. The large grille dominates the front. The LED daytime running lights are located between the headlights and the black grille. The similarity to the Camry ESport is the red accent on the front bumper.

In addition to being equipped with 7 airbags - the largest number of airbags on an eco-car, the new sedan can also possess technologies such as ABS brakes, electronic balance, emergency brake assist and hill start assist.
