The two leaders are expected to discuss North Korea's nuclear program, which Washington describes as a "clear and present threat."
“President Trump and President Moon will discuss ways to further strengthen the strong US-ROK alliance,” the White House said in a statement.
The statement said the two leaders would seek “increased cooperation on economic and global issues” and “will coordinate on issues related to North Korea, including responding to Pyongyang’s growing nuclear and missile threats.”
Earlier, on June 12, US Defense Secretary James Mattis warned US lawmakers that North Korea currently poses the most urgent threat to international peace and security.
Mr. Moon Jae-in, the center-left President of South Korea, wants to persuade North Korea to sit at the negotiating table, rather than taking a tough stance like the government of his ousted predecessor Park Geun-hye./.
