Giving wheelchairs to the disabled

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 7, the Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans of Quynh Luu District organized a ceremony to give wheelchairs and money to buy cows under the 50-50/20 program.

Quynh Luu district currently has over 10 thousand disabled people and orphans. Every year, Quynh Luu district always has policies of concern and incentives to help the less fortunate to rise up in life and integrate into the community. However, there are still people who face many difficulties and deprivations in daily life.

In order to share the hardships they are suffering, on this occasion, the Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Orphans of Quynh Luu District allocated 99 million VND from the association's fund to buy 66 wheelchairs for 66 disabled people, and allocated 165 million VND to support the purchase of 33 cows under the 50-50/20 program for the disabled and orphans in communes and towns throughout the district.

This has become a regular activity of the Association, with practical significance to help the unfortunate have more convenient means of transportation as well as more production materials, making efforts to overcome difficulties and work to rise up to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.

Also on the morning of July 7, the district association conducted a preliminary review of the association's work in the first 6 months of the year, and outlined tasks for the last 6 months of 2017. Since the beginning of the year, the district association has presented 462 gifts worth 254 million VND. Commune and town associations alone presented 1,150 gifts worth nearly 300 million VND. In addition, the association coordinated to organize free medical examinations for 121 people with disabilities, granted nearly 100 scholarships to orphans, supported housing construction for 2 subjects and provided capital support to help many households develop the local economy./.
