Mr. Le Van Luan, from Don Cham village, Muong Ngoc commune, said that the bridge is the only "gateway" for the people of these villages to the outside world, so its dilapidated condition is a constant worry for them. The villagers have tried to repair it themselves many times, but due to limited resources, these repairs are only temporary. During village meetings, the villagers have also petitioned the commune, but for some reason, the bridge has yet to be repaired. (Photo: Ho Phuong)

According to the reporter's observations, numerous holes, more than 20cm wide and nearly 60cm long, have appeared on the bridge. Many of the makeshift sections constructed by local residents are uneven, loose, and extremely dangerous. Photo: Hung Cuong

Mr. Quang Van Phuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Ngoc commune, said that since its construction (2008), the district has supported repairs once, the commune has repaired it twice, and the people in the four villages have also repaired it themselves many times. However, due to the quality of the wood used and the large number of people using it daily, the bridge has deteriorated seriously. Photo: Ho Phuong
