During the nearly 10 days of the Green Summer program, 60 members of the Hanoi Backpacker Club brought their youth and enthusiasm to the mountainous district of Que Phong. The club chose Nam Nhoong commune, a commune isolated from the district center with 99% of the population being Thai and Kho Mu ethnic groups, and a poverty rate of over 80%.

Here, the backpacking group helped the locals clear 3km of road, supported the construction of a kindergarten, and organized cultural exchanges with the locals and children.

In addition, the Club also gave 45 folding beds, 15 tables to kindergarten students, 1 box of various medicines and many other toys.

In order for this Green Summer program to reach the poor people of Nghe An, members of the Hanoi Travel Club had to prepare for many months. Funds were raised through a group of friends buying plums from Son La province to sell in Hanoi to raise funds.
