Vera Fedorovna Brileva might have become the First Lady of Russia if her love affair with President Putin had not ended for a rather unbelievable reason.

Vera still lives in the town of Tosno, on the outskirts of St Petersburg, where she met her first love and the most powerful man in Russia at the moment.

President Putin and his first love Vera Fedorovna Brileva.

The relationship began when 16-year-old Putin and his family moved to an apartment on Vokzalnaya Street, just a few steps away from the house of his neighbor, Vera.

Vera recounted that she had a good impression of the young man, who was two years older than her, from the first time they met. In her memory, although he did not have a very attractive appearance or even a somewhat modest height, Mr. Putin still made many young girls "secretly admire" him.

However, it cannot be denied that the then 16-year-old boy was a person who often shirked chores and almost never did any housework, according to Mrs. Vera.

But somehow, that didn't diminish his "charm that captivated others". However, Vera didn't mind at that time because she knew that her first love only liked hardworking blonde girls.

The relationship between the two people began to change significantly after the kiss at the New Year's Eve party in Putin's apartment. Vera and the most powerful man in Russia at that time were the "victims" who had to pay the penalty in the game of spin the bottle. Very determined, the young Putin turned to give the neighbor girl a sweet kiss.

“It was quite short but I was really excited,” Vera recalled.

As the two began to get to know each other, Vera realized that her lover was a very diligent and studious person. He rarely went to the movies with his friends and did not have time to indulge in entertainment like his peers.

During that time, he devoted all his mind and energy to German, Russian, literature and history to pass the university entrance exam. Therefore, at school, he often appeared cold and indifferent even when people made jokes. But strangely, the 16-year-old boy seemed surprised by extremely trivial and very normal things.

Such questions sometimes give Vera a headache, but that is nothing compared to the president's "long-term" habit of being late. Mr. Putin has been famous for being late since he was a child, and this habit seems to be so long-lasting that even his first love cannot shake it.

Regarding the reason for the breakup, Vera said that the reason stemmed from a seemingly insignificant incident that ended the young love affair. That day, she went to her lover's house to visit, but found that Mr. Putin did not pay any attention to her and was only focused on writing something.

"Volodya (Putin's childhood nickname), do you remember…", she asked, but before Vera could finish her sentence, Putin interrupted: "I will remember what needs to be remembered."

Being a somewhat arrogant girl and having many boys pursuing her, her lover's words touched Vera's pride and made her decide to end this love affair.

Later, when reading an article about Mr. Putin in which it was revealed that his wife, Lyuda, once waited for her husband for 2 hours at the subway station, Vera expressed her admiration for the Russian First Lady because if she were in her position, she would not be able to be so patient.

Talking about her first love, Vera said that she did not want to talk about it again because it was all in the past. Now, if she had the chance to meet President Putin again, she would consider him as her old friends.

"If we meet again, I will definitely have some memories to share. I still remember his hands with short but strong fingers," Putin's first love shared.

Vera now lives happily with her husband, a retired forestry officer, and their two children in Tosno town. Vera herself is also a retired officer and has worked in various jobs such as a tailor and a saleswoman./.
