(Baonghean.vn) - The history of the past 72 years has affirmed that the August Revolution of 1945 and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was the result of Uncle Ho's 30-year journey to find a way to save the country and was the inevitable result of his great contributions in preparing for the liberation revolution since the day he returned to the country.

On June 5, 1911, the patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh went to the West with the determination to regain independence and freedom for the nation. It was the journey of the century, the origin of changes not only in his perception but also the starting point for the process of choosing a new path to save the country, liberating the Vietnamese people.

Traveling through many countries around the world, working, observing, researching the theories and experiences of typical bourgeois revolutions, such as the French bourgeois revolution, the war for independence in the US, and participating in activities in the French Socialist Party, he drew many valuable and useful lessons, which were the basis for his choice of revolutionary path.

In July 1920, after being exposed to and absorbing the basic ideas of V. Lenin in the First Draft of the Theses on the National and Colonial Questions, Uncle Ho found the only correct path to save the country and liberate our nation.

That is to carry out the national liberation revolution along the path of proletarian revolution, national independence associated with socialism, linking the national liberation revolutionary movement in the country with the world revolutionary movement. He affirmed: "To save the country and liberate the nation, there is no other way than the path of proletarian revolution".

After finding the path to national liberation, Uncle Ho promoted and prepared the necessary conditions, directing the struggle movement of the Vietnamese people onto the path of proletarian revolution, thereby leading the Vietnamese revolutionary boat through storms and rapids to the shore of victory.

On February 3, 1930 in Hong Kong - China, Nguyen Ai Quoc chaired the conference to unify three communist organizations to establish the Communist Party of Vietnam, and 15 years later, the Party successfully led the August Revolution.

The August Revolution was the first revolution in the first stage of the Vietnamese revolutionary roadmap following the path of proletarian revolution to achieve the goal of liberating "the nation, class, and people" as determined by Uncle Ho - that was the stage of national liberation.

On January 28, 1941, after many years of searching for a way to save the country, Uncle Ho returned to the country and directly led the Vietnamese revolutionary movement. In May 1941, at Pac Bo, he chaired the 8th Central Conference of the Indochinese Communist Party.

The conference decided to raise the flag of national liberation even higher because “At this time, the interests of the sections and classes must be placed under the life and death, survival of the nation and people. At this time, if the problem of national liberation is not resolved, if independence and freedom for the entire nation are not demanded, not only will the entire nation and people continue to suffer the fate of slaves, but the interests of the sections and classes will not be reclaimed for ten thousand years.”

Thanks to the completion of the strategic direction shift, outlining specific and appropriate policies to solve the number 1 goal of the revolution, which is national independence, the Party and Uncle Ho were able to concentrate revolutionary forces, regardless of workers, peasants, rich farmers, landlords, native capitalists, etc., to unite in the Vietnam Independence Alliance Front (abbreviated as Viet Minh), creating a broad and solid national solidarity bloc that contributed decisively to the victory of the August Revolution.

Along with building political forces, Uncle Ho paid special attention to building revolutionary armed forces. In 1944, he directed the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army with the guiding ideology that "politics is more important than military".

In late 1944 and early 1945, the international situation changed rapidly, and the revolutionary movement in the country developed widely. Seizing the opportunity, Uncle Ho called on the people of the whole country: “The decisive hour for the destiny of our nation has come. The whole country, let's stand up and use our own strength to liberate ourselves.”

The Party's General Uprising Order and Uncle Ho's call were like a proclamation urging people to go to war. People across the country rose up in unison to seize power, uniting to create "an extremely powerful and enormous wave, overcoming all dangers and difficulties, submerging all traitors and invaders". And in just 15 days (from August 14 to 28, 1945), the General Uprising was completely victorious, ending the domination of French colonialism, Japanese fascism and the feudal regime, and returning power to the people.

On September 2, 1945, in Ba Dinh Square, covered with flags and flowers, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the provisional government, read the Declaration of Independence, solemnly declaring to the world: “Vietnam has the right to freedom and independence, and in fact has become a free and independent country. The entire Vietnamese people are determined to devote all their spirit and strength, their lives and property to maintaining that freedom and independence.”

The success of the August Revolution in 1945 was a victory of Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the correct revolutionary line of our Party: National independence associated with socialism, promoting national strength with the strength of the times. This victory also strongly encouraged the national liberation movement in countries oppressed by colonial imperialism.

This year, our entire Party, army and people celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2; it is also the 48th anniversary of Uncle Ho's passing away. In these historic autumn days, millions of hearts across the country are turning toward the historic Ba Dinh Square, where beloved Uncle Ho rests in peace, with all their boundless gratitude for his immense contributions and the promise of solidarity, trust and commitment to follow the revolutionary path chosen by the Party and Uncle Ho./.
