Deputy Prime Minister: 'Vietnam-Cambodia relations are invaluable assets'

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said the comprehensive cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia will increasingly develop for bilateral benefits.

"The friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia will increasingly develop for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world," Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said when answering the press on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said that the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship, nurtured by the sacrifices of countless heroic martyrs as well as the efforts of many generations of Vietnamese and Cambodian people, has "become a priceless asset of the two peoples".

The Deputy Prime Minister also mentioned the achievements that Vietnam and Cambodia have achieved over the past 50 years, since the two countries officially established diplomatic relations on June 24, 1967. These are the victories of the national liberation struggle, the development of relations in all fields in the cause of national construction and development.

Political relations between the two countries continue to develop. Authorities of both sides have coordinated to implement the work of demarcating and planting border markers on land, completing more than 84% of the work volume, and are determined to complete this work soon.

Economic-trade, training, cultural, health, telecommunications, and people-to-people cooperation have been promoted, creating an important foundation for consolidating and developing bilateral relations. The two countries have closely coordinated with each other in a number of regional cooperation mechanisms.

The relationship between the two countries is developing well under the motto of "good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability", contributing to development, peace and stability in the region, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said.
