How is the boy whose mother with cancer refused radiation treatment now?
(Baonghean.vn) - The story of the boy Long Nhat (from Dien Chau) born to a mother with cancer who refused radiation therapy and had to undergo emergency surgery when she was 8 months pregnant brought tears to many people.
We visited Long Nhat on a hot summer morning. Mr. Loc and Mrs. Lan, Long Nhat’s grandparents, were both away, so the baby stayed at home with his uncle. The red-faced baby boy was now quite chubby, and smiled brightly when he saw the visitors.
After 7 months of being loved and cared for by his grandparents, baby Long Nhat grew up healthy, gained 4 kg and was very obedient.
Since the day their daughter died of cancer, the pain has weighed heavily on the family of Mr. Dang Dinh Loc and Mrs. Vu Thi Lan (Hamlet 5, Dien Thanh, Dien Chau, Nghe An), but the appearance of baby Long Nhat has somewhat helped Mr. Loc and his wife ease their grief for their child.

Ms. Dang Thi Thao is the eldest daughter of Mr. Loc and his wife. She married Mr. Tran Van Linh in Dien Tho commune right after leaving school. The couple earns a living by selling vegetables at the market. Life is hard but always filled with laughter in the small house, especially since their first daughter Tran Bao Ngoc was born in 2015.
Happiness is short-lived. At the end of 2015, when Bao Ngoc was 3 months old, Thao often had shoulder pain. Thao went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a lipoma. It was thought that after the lipoma surgery, her health would recover, but misfortune struck when many lumps appeared on her left shoulder and spread further. At this time, the doctors discovered that Thao had cancer and had to undergo radiation therapy to fight for her life.
To have money to treat his wife, Mr. Linh and his wife's family had to borrow hundreds of millions of dong. Although suffering from illness every day, Ms. Thao never cried or complained in front of anyone.
While trying to treat cancer, in mid-2016, Ms. Thao discovered that she was pregnant with her second child. The young mother decided to stop radiation therapy to ensure the safety of her unborn child. Ms. Thao's condition became more and more serious. The simple desire to have health to take care of her two young children became increasingly obscure.

When the fetus entered the 8th month, Ms. Thao's health gradually weakened, the doctors ordered a cesarean section to save the baby as well as prolong the mother's life. The baby boy weighed 2 kg and was named Long Nhat. Ms. Thao passed away after more than a month of her son's birth. Long Nhat was born prematurely and had to stay in the hospital for observation for nearly a month.
Sister Thao passed away, Long Nhat was taken in by his grandparents to be raised and cared for. Besides going to the market to sell vegetables every day, Linh spends all his time with his daughter Bao Ngoc.
Around 11am, Mrs. Vu Thi Lan returned from the market. Talking about her unfortunate daughter, Mrs. Lan could not hold back her tears: My daughter's life was short, I only feel sorry for my two children who lacked a mother's hand. I don't know what will happen to them in the future. The boy must have known that he didn't have a mother, so he was very content, rarely heard him cry, even when he had a fever, he just stayed awake all night and didn't act spoiled by his grandparents.
Since raising her grandchild, Mrs. Lan quit her job selling vegetables to stay home and take care of her grandchild, while Mr. Loc continued to work as a cement truck driver to earn extra income. “My husband and I have to work hard to earn money to take care of our grandchild, and his father also has to take care of his sister’s education,” said Mr. Loc.

Due to poor health, Mr. Loc recently quit his job transporting materials and stayed home to help Mrs. Lan look after her grandchild, while Mrs. Lan returned to her job selling vegetables at the market. On busy days, the couple had to ask their son and his wife to help look after their grandchild.
On weekends, Linh puts aside his work at the market to visit his child at his maternal grandparents' house. Although he loves his child, he has to ask his grandparents to take care of him. Every day, Bao Ngoc follows her father to the market to sell goods because there is no one to look after her.
Currently, Long Nhat is growing up day by day under the care of his grandparents and father. Although his mother has passed away, Long Nhat's peace is a great comfort to his family.
