(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 3317 /QD.UBND on the 2017 - 2018 school year schedule for preschool education, general education and continuing education.
Accordingly, in the 2017-2018 school year, the new school year opening day will officially be held on September 5, 2017. Before that, students started going to school from August 23.
Also according to this decision, the summary of the end of semester I must be done before January 20, 2018. The end of semester II must be before May 25, 2018 (from May 28 to 30, 2018, educational institutions will organize the closing ceremony of the school year).

In this Decision, the Provincial People's Committee also develops a plan for provincial and national exams in the 2017-2018 school year.
Specifically, the province will organize a competition to select teams for the national excellent student contest in cultural subjects for 12th graders in October 2017; a vocational competition for 9th and 11th graders in March 2018; and a scientific research competition for high school students in December 2017.
In addition, the province will organize a provincial-level competition to select excellent students in cultural subjects at secondary, high school, and continuing education levels at high school in March 2018; a 10th grade entrance exam for the 2018-2019 school year and a 10th grade entrance exam for Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School in June 2018.
The national excellent student exam in cultural subjects for grade 12 high school and the national high school exam in 2018 will follow the schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Thus, with this Decision, the school opening day for students in Nghe An province will be about 3 weeks later than in previous school years. According to the Department of Education and Training, this is to help students and teachers (especially preschool and primary school students) more conveniently take their children to class; at the same time, it also helps students extend their summer vacation.
This year, the Department of Education and Training also allows schools to proactively develop their school year plans. However, the schedule must be in accordance with the prescribed curriculum and time frame of 32 - 37 weeks (depending on the level and grade)./.
