(Baonghean.vn) - US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that Qatar and the Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) need to lay the foundation for dialogue to resolve the diplomatic crisis. The US will act as an intermediary, supporting bilateral negotiations.

"Although Qatar will encounter certain difficulties in reaching a negotiation, to completely resolve the tension, Qatar needs to "de-escalate" the negotiations."

According to the US Secretary of State, for all countries involved, the best way to resolve the crisis and reduce pressure is to maintain peaceful dialogue. Qatar and the Gulf countries are all US allies in the Middle East, so Mr. Tillerson believes that "US allies will know how to cooperate with each other. Because only in this way can we achieve the common goal - preventing and fighting terrorism".

On June 22, 2017, after 18 days of cutting all relations with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Egypt, through Kuwait, gave Qatar a list of 13 demands and a deadline of 10 days to meet them, considering these as the conditions Qatar must fulfill to resume relations.

As an intermediary between US allies, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has asked Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt to make "reasonable and achievable" demands to Qatar to resolve the current crisis. However, immediately after the 13 demands were revealed to Qatar, international public opinion, especially human rights organizations, said that these demands were unrealistic, inconsistent with international practices and laws, and to some extent violated Qatar's independence, sovereignty and interfered in its internal affairs.

Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it would officially respond to the 13 demands of the four Arab countries mentioned above. However, through analysis and initial reactions of public opinion within Qatar and related parties, through initial statements of Qatari politicians, it can be seen that it is very unlikely that Doha will meet these demands.
