Big explosion at Laos hydropower plant, 6 Vietnamese people died
(Baonghean.vn)– Among the 6 Vietnamese people who died, 5 were from Nghe An province and 1 was from Phu Tho.
According to private sources, on the evening of July 28, an explosion occurred at a hydroelectric plant project in Bo Likhamxay province (Laos). Initial information shows that the explosion killed 6 workers on the spot and seriously injured 2 others. Of the 6 deceased, 5 were from Nghe An, including 3 from Thanh Chuong district, 1 from Tuong Duong and 1 from Ky Son district. The remaining deceased victim was from Phu Tho province.
The two injured people were also from Nghe An.
The list of 6 dead people includes: 1. Nguyen Van Phuong, Thanh Thinh commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An 2. Ha Cao Ky, Thanh Tung commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An. 3. Tran Van Sang, Thanh Khe, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An. 4. And Xai Co, Muong Long commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province. 5. Gia Ba Lau, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province. 6. Ha Huu Hai, hometown Phu Tho province |
Mr. Pham Doan Thao - Chairman of Thanh Tung Commune People's Committee (Thanh Chuong) confirmed the information that a citizen of the commune died in an explosion at a hydroelectric construction site in Laos and said that the family of Mr. Ha Cao Ky (born in 1993, residing in Truong Long hamlet) was in extremely difficult circumstances. Mr. Ky had been working in Laos for more than a year when the accident happened.
Meanwhile, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau - Vice Chairman of Thanh Thinh Commune People's Committee (Thanh Chuong) also informed that the commune government has just received information that Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong (born in 1991, residing in Hamlet 8, Thanh Thinh Commune) has just died in Laos. "Mr. Phuong has been working at a hydropower company in Laos for many years. After receiving the information, Mr. Phuong's family is going to Laos to complete the procedures to bring Mr. Phuong's body back to his hometown," said Mr. Chau.
Thanh Khe commune authorities, Thanh Chuong district also said that the deceased victim Tran Van Sang (born in 1988) was married and his wife was about to give birth to their second child.
Mr. Nguyen Van Long, from Thanh Tung commune, Thanh Chuong district, who is currently working at the hydroelectric power plant site that just exploded, said that there were 8 main workers in the shift yesterday. While working, the oxygen tank exploded.
"Of the 6 deceased, 4 were workers of Song Da 9 Joint Stock Company, Unit 908, and 2 others were seasonal workers. Song Da 5 Company is the general contractor for this project. The construction site is located in a mountainous area, far from the center, so the workers are temporarily buying plywood to make coffins for the workers to bring back to Vietnam. Around tonight, July 29, the bodies of the workers will be brought back to the country," said Mr. Long.
