That is the reason he decided to come to Vietnam to train Huyen My to enter the Miss Grand International 2017 pageant.

Anjo Santos said he knew Huyen My as the first runner-up of the Miss Vietnam 2014 contest and had seen many pictures and video clips of her. “Huyen My is a girl with very modern but still extremely luxurious facial features, quite suitable for the criteria of the Miss Grand International contest. Although she has achieved high rankings in Vietnam's national beauty contests and has a lot of performance experience, when she comes to me, Huyen My will have to learn from the beginning, because the evaluation criteria of the Miss Grand contest are completely different from domestic beauty contests” - Anjo Santos shared.

Anjo Santos assessed that Huyen My has good catwalk and performance skills, but still needs more adjustments during training to make her body more harmonious and flexible.

“Apart from the disadvantage of waking up quite late, Huyen My practices very hard and is always full of energy. She is always playful, making everyone laugh while practicing, making people around her feel excited. I advised Huyen My that she still has to maintain her Asian features, just make herself more radiant and sexy, but never turn herself into a copy of Latin style” - Anjo Santos said.

Anjo Santos believes that the weaknesses that Vietnamese beauties in general and Huyen My in particular need to overcome are confidence, voice and pronunciation on stage. “Huyen My has improved a lot after a process of diligently honing her foreign language skills. What is necessary now is to practice to make her voice more dignified, natural and expressive” - Anjo Santos revealed.

To overcome this, Anjo Santos had a very unique trick to train Huyen My, which was to make her go down to the square right in front of the apartment building where they lived at 12 midnight to practice performing and shouting loudly the introduction "I'm Huyen My, 22, from Vietnam".

Huyen My said that at first she was very shy because she had to stand in the middle of the square late at night and had to shout loudly. However, the runner-up admitted that this lesson left a lasting impression on her and had a great effect in training her to be confident and bold on stage.

Huyen My said she became bolder and more confident after being guided by an expert from the Philippines.
