SEA Games 29: Cyclist Nguyen Thi That wins gold medal, fencer Nguyen Xuan Loi enters semi-finals

Nguyen Thi That won the gold medal in the women's 35km (7 laps) cycling race with a time of 1 hour 12.12 minutes.

This is Nguyen Thi That's second gold medal at the SEA Games, after her first gold medal in the women's road event at the 2015 Singapore SEA Games. Winning the gold medal, Nguyen Thi That was awarded 60 million VND by Ton Dong A.

This is the first gold medal in cycling at the 29th SEA Games, and the 6th gold medal of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 29th SEA Games up to this point.

Previously, Duong Thuy Vi won a gold medal in the women's wushu spear art event. This is Duong Thuy Vi's second individual gold medal after her first gold medal in the women's sword art event yesterday (August 20).

In the men's sabre event, fencers Vu Thanh An and Nguyen Xuan Loi both easily defeated their opponents in the quarterfinals to advance to the semi-finals.

Fencer Vu Thanh An performed excellently, winning all 4 group stage matches and gaining the right to enter the round of 16 for men's sabre. Previously, two athletes Hoai Thu and Do Thi Anh also gained the right to enter the round of 16 for women's sabre.
