In particular, localities need to proactively monitor the fields and monitor the appearance of pests, especially the fifth generation of small leaf roller, which is expected to appear at high density and over a large area.

* In Quynh Luu District:More than 2,400 hectares of rice are infected with the fourth generation of small leaf rollers, of which about 600 hectares are heavily infected with a density of over 50 insects/m2.

The reason why leaf rollers have arisen and caused such widespread damage this year is because people are subjective, along with the somewhat indecisive direction of local authorities, so some areas have not been sprayed or sprayed late.

To promptly protect the summer-autumn rice area, the district is focusing on directing functional departments, branches and local farmers to strengthen measures to care for rice and prevent harmful pests and diseases.

* In Yen Thanh district:Currently, more than 5,000 hectares are infected with the fourth generation of leaf rollers with a common density of 20 - 50 individuals/m², in some places the density is from 200 - 300 fish/m².

At this time, adult worms have begun to emerge. It is predicted that from July 10-15, 1st-2nd instar larvae of the 5th generation will develop rapidly, causing severe damage to summer-autumn rice in the late tillering and panicle initiation stages, greatly affecting the growth and development of rice.

Faced with the above situation, the district's agricultural sector directed the Commune Agricultural Board to coordinate with the Plant Protection Station to regularly monitor the fields to divide areas and monitor the development of pests in the fields to have effective prevention and control measures.

At the same time, strengthen state management of materials and plant protection drugs, prevent the sale of poor quality drugs, drugs not listed, or expired drugs on the market, affecting the results of pest control and affecting the rice yield at the end of the crop.
