According to information obtained by Malaysian authorities, IS has called on its affiliated elements in Malaysia to kill Ayob, whom IS considers a major threat to the terrorist group in Southeast Asia.
Mr. Ayob said he was aware of the threat. He also acknowledged receiving similar threats over the years, but this was the first time Indonesian militants had issued a call to assassinate him.
However, the head of Malaysia's counter-terrorism force affirmed that Malaysian police will continue to dedicate themselves to ensuring the safety and security of the people and the country.
