(Baonghean.vn) - Following Baonghean.vn's report on the dilapidated condition of the Muong Ngoc bridge, which poses a danger to road users, the People's Committee of the commune issued a notice prohibiting traffic on the "human trap" bridge in order to carry out maintenance and repairs.

Accordingly, from July 11th to 16th, the Muong Ngoc suspension bridge (Muong Ngoc commune, Que Phong district) will undergo maintenance and repair. During this time, traffic will be prohibited, and the repair unit will expedite construction to ensure safe travel on this pedestrian suspension bridge.

The Muong Ngoc suspension bridge serves the people of Thanh Phong cluster, comprising four villages inhabited by the Thai ethnic minority: Luong, Muong Mun, Don Cham, and Na Phi. Built in 2008, the bridge, which serves nearly 1,500 people, has seriously deteriorated over time, with the wooden planks severely damaged.

On April 4, 2017, the People's Committee of Que Phong District also issued Decision No. 222/QD/UBND approving the design drawings and construction cost estimate for the Muong Ngoc suspension bridge project.

It is known that, on this occasion, in addition to the Muong Ngoc suspension bridge, Que Phong district is carrying out repairs on four other suspension bridges in the district, including: Tien Phong, Quang Phong, Cam Muon, and Chau Thon suspension bridges. The total estimated cost is approximately 5 billion VND. The Muong Ngoc suspension bridge alone is estimated at over 1 billion VND.

Mr. Le Van Giap, Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Phong district, said that repairing the pedestrian suspension bridges helps people in the villages and hamlets feel safer when traveling. It ensures the safety of lives and property for people in the mountainous areas during the rainy season and floods.
