(Baonghean.vn) - From the distress call of a father whose daughter went missing, the Ky Son District Police (Nghe An) quickly verified and coordinated with Mong Cai City Police (Quang Ninh) rescues a girl who was sold.

On July 12, 2017, Ky Son District Police received a distress call from Mr. Moong Pho U., 46 years old, residing in Binh Son II village, Ta Ca commune, Ky Son, stating: On July 10, his family discovered that his daughter, Moong Thi X (born in 1999), was missing. The family searched many places but could not find her, and could not contact her by phone. Worried that his daughter might be tricked and sold abroad by bad people, he filed a distress call with the authorities.

Immediately after receiving the news, the leaders of Ky Son District Police directed the Criminal Police Team to quickly start the investigation. The direction of the investigation focused on reviewing and carefully studying the relationships and recent manifestations of Moong Thi X.

The detectives got important information: On the morning of July 10, Moong Thi X. went to work in the fields with Hoa Thi M. (born in 1999, living in the same village). By evening, neither of them returned home. The family also did not know Ma's whereabouts.

Immediately after that, Ms. Moong Thi S., X.'s older sister, went to the police station to report that she had received a phone call from her younger sister with the content: "It seems like I was tricked into going to China to be sold, I am currently at Mong Cai border gate, Quang Ninh, please report to the police to save me." Before Ms. S. could say anything, someone came and snatched X.'s phone and turned it off. Immediately after that, the family tried to contact her again but the phone number was locked.

Assessing this as a case of human trafficking, the subject was trying to prevent the victim from contacting her family, or trying to hide it from the authorities and was waiting for someone to come to the transaction, Ky Son District Police coordinated with Mong Cai City Police, Quang Ninh to verify, prevent, and at the same time instruct the family to immediately report to the police when they can contact X.

At around 2:00 p.m. on July 12, X. continued to call S. (her biological sister) saying, "I just escaped from the surveillance of the subjects. I am currently hiding in an alley in the city. I do not know the exact address."

The above information was quickly reported to the Ky Son District Police. A task force immediately set off for Mong Cai, Quang Ninh, to coordinate with Mong Cai Police to conduct a large-scale search. By 5 p.m. on July 13, the task force had identified the victim's hiding place and brought Ms. X. safely back to Ky Son.

Meeting Moong Thi X. at the Ky Son District Police Department, right after being rescued by the police force, although still tired after a long trip, the girl could not hide her joy.

X. added: On July 10, X. and Ms. Hoa Thi Ma went to work on the farm together. During that time, Ms. Ma asked X. if he wanted to work for hire in Saigon. X. replied that he wanted to, but he didn't have money. But she said she wasn't worried about money.

In the evening of the same day, X. and Ma took a motorbike taxi from Binh Son 2 village, Ta Ca, Ky Son to Muong Xen town. Ma sold the gold necklace she was wearing for 1.8 million VND and then both took a bus to Vinh.

Arriving in Vinh, the two continued to catch a bus to continue, but X. did not know where to go. Only when they arrived at Mong Cai border gate did Ma say that he was not going to Saigon but to China to work for hire and earn more money. Only then did X. realize that he had been tricked.

At 5:00 p.m. on July 11, X. took advantage of going to the restroom and called his sister for help.

Upon receiving the news that his daughter had been successfully rescued and brought back home safely by the police, that same night, Mr. U. took a bus to pick up his daughter and returned home, thanking the Ky Son District Police for promptly stopping and rescuing his daughter before she was sold to China.

The case is currently being further investigated and clarified by Ky Son District Police.
