How to calculate the electricity consumption of household electrical appliances.

(Baonghean.vn) -The power consumption figures published in the specifications of electrical appliances help consumers calculate their monthly electricity consumption, thereby enabling them to develop appropriate electricity saving plans for their families.

* Below are the electricity consumption figures for some common household appliances. The figures are for reference only and may differ slightly from actual consumption, but the difference is negligible.

- Fridge:The refrigerator has a power rating of 120W, and in one day (when the refrigerator operates for 24 hours), it consumes approximately 2.88 kWh of electricity (0.12 kWh x 24 hours).

Additionally, if the product's energy label mentions electricity consumption, you can use that to roughly calculate the amount of electricity the device consumes in a day; simply divide the annual electricity consumption by 365 days to get the daily electricity consumption of the device.

For example, if the energy label shows "Electricity consumption": 485kWh/year, then in one day the refrigerator will consume approximately: ~485kWh/365 days = 1.32 kWh.

- Television:A 14-inch TV with a power consumption of 40W will consume 1 KW in 25 hours of use; an 18-inch TV with a power consumption of 65W will consume approximately 1 KW/hour in 15.4 hours.

- Electric rice cookerA 500W appliance consumes 1 KW/hour in 2 hours. A 750W appliance consumes 1 KW/hour in 1.3 hours.

- Hair dryerWith a power rating of 1000W, according to these specifications, the machine will consume 1kW of electricity if it operates continuously for 1 hour.

- Front-loading washing machine:With a power rating of 1240W, the machine will consume 1.24kW of electricity in one hour of washing.

- Vacuum cleanerThey are usually advertised as having a maximum power output, meaning that when using the highest suction setting, it's around 1800W; if the machine runs continuously for 30 minutes, the electricity consumption is nearly 1kW.

- Induction cooktopWith a power rating of 2200W, when used for 2 hours a day, the daily electricity consumption is approximately 4.4 kWh (2.20kW x 2 hours), and the consumption over 30 days is 123kW.

- Air conditioning:An air conditioner typically has a power rating of 800-850 W; 12,000 BTU units have a power rating of 1,500 W. Therefore, a 9,000 BTU air conditioner used for one hour will consume 0.85 kWh (almost 1 unit of electricity); a 12,000 BTU air conditioner will consume 1.5 units of electricity after one hour of use.

The actual electricity consumption may be lower because the power rating on the appliance is usually the maximum power, and electrical appliances don't always run at maximum power. This is especially true for appliances equipped with inverter compressors, which are energy-efficient and therefore consume less electricity.

Some ways to choose energy-saving appliances.

*Choose products with energy consumption labels. In Vietnam, there are three types of energy labels affixed to electrical appliances: energy certification labels, comparative energy labels, and energy labels without stars.

The energy efficiency certification label (energy efficiency label) is a triangular label with the Vietnamese energy star printed on it, used for products that achieve or exceed the maximum energy efficiency level.

Energy efficiency labels are typically used for products whose energy efficiency falls below the minimum required level.

The comparative energy rating (or energy efficiency label) is rectangular in shape; it is affixed to electrical appliances with different energy efficiency levels, divided into 5 tiers, each tier represented by a star. The more stars an appliance has, the higher its energy efficiency.

*Choose appliances with modern technology: Inverter technology, Plasmaster technology, etc. Consider selecting the appropriate power rating for the electrical appliance; choose the power rating based on your needs and the number of users.
