General Secretary meets with Chairman of Indonesian Local Representative Council
The visit of the General Secretary and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will create a strong driving force to promote the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership.
On the afternoon of August 22, at the headquarters of the Indonesian Parliament in the capital Jakarta, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met with Chairman of the Local Representatives Council (ie the Senate) of Indonesia Oesman Sapta Odang.

Chairman of the Local Delegation Council Oesman Sapta Odang expressed his honor to welcome General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; warmly welcomed the General Secretary and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the official visit to the Republic of Indonesia at the invitation of President Joko Widodo; expressed his firm belief that the visit of the General Secretary and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will be a great success and contribute significantly to creating momentum to strongly promote the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated Mr. Oesman Sapta Odang on his new position as Chairman of the Indonesian Local Representative Council; and thanked him for the warm welcome and affection that the President had for the General Secretary and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sincerely congratulated the Indonesian people on their recent multifaceted achievements; highly appreciated Indonesia's increasingly enhanced prestige and international position; and expressed his belief that the Indonesian people will continue to gain many new and even greater achievements in the time to come.
Chairman of the Local Delegation Council Oesman Sapta Odang expressed his delight at the positive developments in the bilateral relationship; affirming that in his position, the Chairman will strive to promote his role and actively contribute to promoting multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, including sharing experiences in monitoring government activities and promoting cooperation between localities of the two countries, such as Hanoi - Jakarta.
The two leaders agreed that Vietnam and Indonesia have a long-standing relationship, share many similar interests and views, are both members of ASEAN, and have many advantages and potential to develop relations.
Further deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries not only meets the interests of the two peoples but also contributes to building a united, strong ASEAN and actively contributes to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
The two leaders expressed their delight and appreciation for the important contributions of central and local state power agencies to promoting multifaceted cooperation between the two countries; agreed that promoting cooperation between central and local state power agencies and friendship parliamentary groups of the two countries will contribute to improving the operational efficiency of the Vietnamese National Assembly and Indonesian legislative bodies, enhancing political trust, consolidating friendly relations, promoting substantive cooperation, and creating new developments in Vietnam-Indonesia relations./.
