Providing information about fallen soldiers is rewarded with up to 10 million VND.

This is the content of the latest government decision regulating the regime, policies, and support for organizations and individuals undertaking the task of searching for and collecting the remains of fallen soldiers, which was recently issued by the Prime Minister.

The decision states that officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and defense workers on the payroll of specialized teams directly involved in the search and collection of the remains of fallen soldiers (hereinafter referred to as search and collection teams) both domestically and internationally, during the time they are directly engaged in the search and collection of the remains of fallen soldiers, in addition to their salaries, allowances, and other benefits as prescribed, they are also entitled to benefits and policies such as allowances, direct training, health training, and additional meals.

Specifically, the health allowance for duty both domestically and internationally has been increased from 280,000 VND per person to 500,000 VND per person (not exceeding twice a year).

Furthermore, when performing duties domestically, the direct allowance for surveying, excavating, and collecting the remains of fallen soldiers has increased from 100,000 VND/person/day of actual duty to 220,000 VND/person/day of actual duty. During the duty period, if the allowance is received, the travel allowance will no longer be granted.

The decision also stipulates that members of the Steering Committee, Special Task Force, and Specialized Committees at all levels responsible for the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains, while directly supervising the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains, in addition to their salaries, allowances, and other benefits as prescribed, will also receive a living allowance of 220,000 VND per person per actual day when directly inspecting and directing the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains both domestically and internationally. In cases where they receive this living allowance, they will not be entitled to the accommodation allowance as prescribed for officials and civil servants on domestic business trips.

The compensation for those providing information about fallen soldiers has also been increased. Specifically, those providing accurate information leading to the search and collection of one fallen soldier's remains will receive 3 million VND; 5 million VND for accurate information leading to the search and collection of a mass grave containing 2-5 fallen soldiers' remains; and 10 million VND for accurate information leading to the search and collection of a mass grave containing 6 or more fallen soldiers' remains. (Decision 75/2013/QD-TTg only stipulated a single amount of 2 million VND).
