On August 11, Ms. Bui Thi Bich Thuy - Secretary of Thong Nhat District Party Committee, said that she will consider handling the illegal construction on agricultural land of the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Dau - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee in Tran Hung Dao Hamlet, Xuan Thanh Commune, Thong Nhat District.

Ms. Thuy affirmed: “The district leaders’ viewpoint has long been to handle the matter in accordance with regulations, fairly with all citizens or officials if they violate the law. If the above construction was built incorrectly, it will certainly be dismantled in accordance with regulations.”

Currently, the agricultural land of more than 2,000 m2 has been "given" by Mr. Dau to his daughter and her husband. This land has been surrounded by a wall, inside is built a house with Thai tile roof, a large 3-room wooden house, a hexagonal house. The entire remaining land area is planted with large ornamental trees, lawns...

Thong Nhat District Secretary affirmed that if this project is found to be in violation, it will be dismantled.

Previously, at the press conference organized by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee on August 9, Ms. Le Thi Kim Trinh - Chief of Office of Thong Nhat District People's Committee said that the land was originally bought by Mr. Dau from someone else but later transferred to his son-in-law and daughter. During the transfer process, Mr. Dau's son-in-law built a house on agricultural land in violation of regulations.

However, according to many sources, the time when Mr. Dau completed the procedures to transfer and "give" this land to his daughter and her husband was May 31, 2017, that is, after the illegal construction on this agricultural land was exposed by the press and Dong Nai province directed to handle it.

That means that when these illegal constructions were built, this land was still under the ownership of Mr. Dau and his wife.

After being discovered to have violated the law, Mr. Dau's son-in-law submitted a request to keep the house, stating that he "has no house and promises to demolish it if the state takes it back."

The People's Committee of Thong Nhat district has decided to impose an administrative fine of nearly 23 million VND for illegally building a house on agricultural land, and at the same time allowed the construction to exist because it considered the "difficult circumstances" of Mr. Dau's son-in-law.

However, according to the reporter's investigation, Mr. Dau's daughter, Ms. Tien (the person who Mr. Dau gave the above land to), is currently working at the Dong Nai Customs Department. Ms. Tien resides in a large house in Quarter 2, Tan Hiep Ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai. This is a large house located on an area of hundreds of square meters in the center of the city.
