Arrested Mong man carrying 20 heroin cakes from Laos to Vietnam

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 13, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Phuc Tu - Head of Tuong Duong District Police said that the unit had just successfully dismantled Project 1517M, arrested Xong Ba Tenh (born in 1986), residing in Buoc Mu village, Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son, and seized 20 heroin cakes.

After more than 2 months of investigation and monitoring the movements of Xong Ba Tenh, the detectives said that on the morning of July 13, the subject would carry a quantity of drugs from Ky Son through Luu Kien commune to National Highway 7 to bring downstream for consumption. The task force decided to arrange forces to block and arrest him.

At around 9:40 a.m., Xong Ba Tenh was driving a motorbike through Luu Kien commune when the traffic police asked him to stop and conduct an administrative check. He tried to run away with his backpack but was detained and taken to the Luu Kien commune People's Committee headquarters for questioning.

Here, checking Xong Ba Tenh's backpack, the task force discovered and seized 20 heroin cakes. Initially, Xong Ba Tenh confessed that the drugs were purchased from Laos and were on their way to Vietnam for consumption.

Currently, Tuong Duong District Police are completing the file to hand over the suspect and evidence to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Province Police for further investigation. This is the largest drug case ever successfully busted by Tuong Duong District Police./.
