Developing an electromagnetic gun to take down drones
The Russian Defense Ministry's Research and Experimental Center for Robotics is developing an electromagnetic gun to counter drones.

The gun is called Stupor. A model of the Stupor was displayed at the International Military-Technical Forum-2017 held in Moscow.
Stupor is designed to destroy drones and even helicopters within direct line of sight.
According to a spokesman for the Robotics Research and Testing Center, the Stupor gun will release an electromagnetic pulse to suppress the UAV's operating channels. The UAV "hit by the Stupor's bullet" will lose contact with the control center, lose control and crash.
The Stupor has a range of about 2 km. According to supporting documentation, the stupor is capable of suppressing navigation and transmission channels used on aircraft, as well as video and photo shooting.
It is recommended that this type of gun not be aimed at people, animals, manned aircraft, or vehicles.
