Vice Chairman of Nghe An province reminds district leaders to update storm damage slowly

(Baonghean.vn) - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong inspected the damage after storm No. 10 in Anh Son district and said that the district was slow to report the damage and progress in overcoming the consequences.

On the morning of September 16, a working delegation of the province led by comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the work of preventing and overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 10 in Anh Son and Con Cuong districts.

Also attending were leaders of the Departments of: Transport; Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Education and Training; Agriculture and Rural Development; and Health.

During an inspection in Anh Son district, Mr. Nguyen Huu Sang - Chairman of the district People's Committee said that, based on information from the communes, there were no major consequences caused by storm No. 10. "There were no human casualties in the locality, only some minor consequences such as the winter crop area being affected," Mr. Sang said, adding that specific figures would be reported later because there was no damage assessment yet.

After Mr. Sang's report, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reminded Anh Son district.

Comrade Le Minh Thong said: "This is a very strong storm, previously forecast to hit Nghe An, fortunately it was only on the edge of the impact. Before this storm made landfall, the Central Government gave very strong instructions."

“In the province, the Party Secretaries and Chairmen continuously go to the grassroots to inspect and update the damage every hour. But the leaders of Anh Son district have not yet reported. I think the district is very subjective,” said the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

After working with the leaders of Anh Son district, the delegation inspected the damage at the corn field along the Lam River, in Tam Son commune. This is one of the areas most severely affected by water pouring in from upstream, flooding the newly sown corn fields.

According to the leader of Tam Son commune, this area has more than 260 hectares of corn, but nearly half of it has to be replanted because of flooding. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the local government support people to replant affected corn fields as soon as possible.

In Con Cuong district, Mr. Vi Van Son - Chairman of the district People's Committee, said that the recent storm, local departments proactively responded, so the damage caused by the storm was limited. The whole district had 7 houses with unroofed roofs, 3 electric poles fell. The affected crop area was insignificant. 500 meters of traffic road were damaged....

Appreciating the storm prevention work of Con Cuong district, comrade Le Minh Thong suggested that the district continue to send forces to stand guard at the spillways, preventing people from crossing until the danger is over. In addition, the government also needs to pay attention to sanitation work, avoiding outbreaks of disease after the storm...
