APEC 2017 Conference held in Nghe An: Opportunity for the province to promote and attract investment

(Baonghean.vn) - The APEC conference held in Vinh City this September is an opportunity for Nghe An to promote the local potential and strengths.

The 11th Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) on Disaster Management on “Enhancing cooperation and innovation of advanced technology to effectively support inter-regional emergency response to the “New Normal Natural Disaster” phenomenon in APEC economies” is scheduled to be held from September 20-22, 2017 in Vinh City, Nghe An Province.

Nghe An will attend the conference as a co-organizer, and together with the General Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, will develop a plan to welcome delegates.

Up to now, the province has proactively developed implementation scenarios and selected field locations for delegates to visit. Focused on building promotional content about Nghe An to invite businesses to invest in production linkages. Recruiting a team of volunteers who are good at English and have knowledge of diplomacy and foreign affairs. At the same time, there are security and medical plans for the conference, including internal and external security in the field, police escorts, etc.

After listening to comments from representatives of relevant departments, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong concluded: The conference held in Nghe An is an opportunity for us to promote the potential and strengths of the province to international friends and investors. The Departments of Culture, Tourism, Trade, and Investment Promotion Center are responsible for introducing products in their respective fields to focus on promoting and introducing at the conference.

The Department of Information and Communications must do a good job of managing propaganda content in accordance with APEC standards, inviting newspapers to participate in writing articles and reporting on the conference. Nghe An will also have a welcome speech and reception, arrange an exhibition booth, thereby introducing the potential, strengths and culture of the locality. Regarding security work at the conference, we will wait for a specific plan from the Central Government to coordinate implementation.

The biggest difficulty now is that the conference project and detailed program have not been approved yet so that Nghe An can be proactive in coordinating the organization. The Provincial People's Committee assigned relevant departments to proactively contact ministries and branches to soon have a coordination program.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development are assigned to coordinate in drafting the speeches of the provincial leaders at the conference. The Provincial People's Committee will soon issue the coordination plan of the Provincial People's Committee, and after having the plan of the Central Government, it will supplement and adjust accordingly.
