The pain of a mother who has no money for her daughter's heart surgery

That is the situation of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan's family in Hung Tan, Hung Nguyen. Her daughter - Ho Thi Oanh (born 2001) has a mental illness, and last August, was discovered to have a leaky heart valve.

Ms. Lan said: "Seeing that my child was tired and emaciated, my family took him to Nghe An General Hospital for examination, but he fainted in the clinic and had to be taken to the Emergency Resuscitation Department. In less than two weeks, he had lost 5 kg. The doctor said he needed urgent surgery, because if he waited too long, his life would be in danger. But to have heart surgery with the poor household insurance, the family would need at least 40 million VND."

With no money for surgery, Oanh was brought home. Seeing her sick child every day, Lan was worried and didn't know how to get 40 million VND. Her family had 4 mouths to feed, 3 father and 3 children with 3 social security salaries that could only pay more than 1 million VND. She couldn't handle the 5 sao of contracted rice fields alone, her paternal relatives joined in to support, help, pay for labor, seeds, fertilizer, grass,... but if the harvest was good, there would be enough rice to eat, but if the harvest was bad, she would be hungry for months and had to eat porridge and corn instead of rice.

Through investigation, it was learned that Ms. Lan herself was too old to get married, and knew that Mr. Thinh was sick, but seeing that he was gentle, she felt sorry for him. The couple got married with nothing, because they did not know how to work, so the older brother created a job for Ms. Lan's husband by buying a cow for him to herd and paying him in rice. But when they gave the cow to Mr. Thinh, everyone was not at ease because they were afraid that he would have an unstable temperament and let the cow run away. At home, they listened to whatever his wife said without knowing right from wrong, and the three father and sons did not know money or the difference between rice and sticky rice...

She hoped her children would be different, but unexpectedly, her two daughters, Ho Thi Hang (born in 2000) and Ho Thi Oanh (born in 2001), were both foolish, both of them were like their father, so she suffered since the day she married him. Even changing clothes, feeding, bathing, she took care of everything by herself. She did all the big and small things in the house by herself. She tried to overcome all the pain because of her love for her husband and children. But Lan's biggest pain and worry now is that she still cannot manage to find the money to pay for Oanh's surgery.

Lan's greatest wish now is for a miracle, for someone, for an organization to extend its arms of kindness to support and help her and her child, so that she can have the funds to have a heart surgery for her poor little daughter. The child that she has devoted all her love to raising and caring for, even though that child is not healthy and normal like other children. But that child is still her child, her own flesh and blood...
