A cybercrime ring that broke into personal and corporate email accounts to steal tens of billions of dong has been dismantled.

On the afternoon of August 15, the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Police Department (PC 46) of Dong Nai Province Police announced that they had urgently arrested BVK and NHO in Ho Chi Minh City while they were withdrawing money at a bank.

According to PC 46, in early August, the agency received information from a wood furniture trading company belonging to the Hyundai Group (located in the Amata Industrial Park) that the internal email system had some content related to financial activities changed.

Through checking the computer system, PC 46 determined that a group of people had hacked into the email accounts of individuals with financial approval authority at this company, then changed the beneficiary's account number.

Through investigation, PC 46 forces determined that most foreign companies exchanged and transacted via email and phone, then transferred money via bank accounts.

From the scene, PC 46 collected traces of a high-tech criminal group breaking into the email, changing the content from the authorized person, sending it to the company's board of directors for approval to transfer money into the account set up by this criminal group.

When the location where this group received the money was determined, Dong Nai Provincial Police coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Police to intercept BVK at a bank in Ho Chi Minh City. When BVK was completing the procedures to receive the amount of 960 million VND from Hyundai Group, he was raided and arrested.

Next, the police executed a search warrant at K.'s house, seized many related documents and arrested NHO, another member of the gang./.
