President Putin: 'Pressuring North Korea could create a global disaster'

Speaking today (September 5), Russian President Putin said that if "pressuring" North Korea too much could create "a global disaster".

Mr. Putin affirmed that Russia condemns North Korea's missile and nuclear tests, considering them provocative. However, increasing military actions will not lead to anything good and there is no other way but a peaceful path to the North Korean issue.

Mr. Putin's statement came as the White House announced that US President Donald Trump had agreed in principle to sell military equipment and weapons to South Korea worth billions of dollars.

Russia has also repeatedly called for dialogue with North Korea, along with China, including a proposal for a "stop for stop" in which the US and South Korea would stop joint military exercises in exchange for North Korea ending its missile and nuclear testing program./.
