(Baonghean) - In 2017, the weather was extremely complex, especially during the summer-autumn crop season, with prolonged heatwaves, posing many difficulties for the agricultural sector. However, Nam Nghe An Irrigation Company Limited performed well in managing and operating the irrigation system to serve agricultural production.

For the summer-autumn crop season, due to the low water level in the Nam Dan irrigation system, the Nam Dan Irrigation Company Limited proactively develops rational and scientific irrigation plans. Simultaneously, it promotes and advises localities to conserve water resources thoroughly. It also converts some drought-affected areas to other crops. Furthermore, from the beginning of the season, it proactively inspects, dredges, and maintains irrigation canals worth over 3 billion VND, prepares backup pumps to promptly address drought-affected areas when needed, and implements rotational irrigation.

For reservoirs and dams with depleted water sources, the company implemented a solution using mobile pumps to draw water from the downstream rivers to irrigate rice fields, reserving reservoir water for the rice flowering stage. They also coordinated with local authorities to manage water effectively. By the end of August, rice fields in the Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen districts were basically secured with irrigation water. In the Nghi Loc and Vinh City areas, due to drought, late-season rice cultivation was switched to.

Thanks to scientific and quantitative management and direction in operational decisions, ensuring irrigation capacity and infrastructure safety, the area affected by flooding and drought has been minimized. Over 20,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice under the company's management are under closed-loop irrigation. The company is determined to serve production with a dynamic and creative spirit, "staying close to the fields and the people" to provide the best irrigation for the summer-autumn crop.
