Nghe An: Casting a 1-ton cannon at the death anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 19, 2017 (July 29, Dinh Dau year), Vinh city held the 225th death anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung and the cannon casting ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the leaders of Military Region 4, Nghe An province, departments, branches and sectors in the province, Vinh City, representatives of the Ho family in Thanh Hoa, Quynh Luu, Hung Nguyen and many people of Nghe An and tourists from all over. |
At the ceremony, everyone reviewed the great achievements and career of the cloth-clothed hero Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue: Emperor Quang Trung was born in 1753 in Kien Thanh hamlet, Tuy Vien prefecture, Quy Nhon district - now Phu Phong town, Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province. The Emperor's ancestors were from the Ho family, from Hung Nguyen, Nghe An, after moving to Quy Nhon, they changed their surname to Nguyen.

Born and raised in the context of a divided and conflicted country, in 1771, Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue and his two brothers Nguyen Nhac and Nguyen Lu raised the flag of uprising in Tay Son land.
With his genius military strategy and the people's support, Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue commanded the Tay Son army to overthrow the Nguyen Lord in Dang Trong and the Trinh Lord in Dang Ngoai, creating conditions for the unification of the country. In 1785, Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue commanded the Tay Son army to defeat the invading Siamese army; in 1789, he commanded our army and people to defeat the Qing army and liberate Thang Long.

After eliminating internal and external enemies, Emperor Quang Trung took care of the country's economic, political, cultural, military, and diplomatic revival... While the country was on the path of development, on July 29, Nham Ty year (September 16, 1792), Emperor Quang Trung suddenly passed away at the age of 39. The Tay Son Dynasty did not last long, but it marked a brilliant milestone in our nation's tradition of fighting against foreign invaders.
Every year on the death anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung, the Vietnamese people in general and Nghe An people in particular still hold a memorial service to express their deep gratitude. In the Emperor's homeland (Nghe An), in 2005, Nghe An province built a temple to worship Emperor Quang Trung on the second peak of the Phuong Duc branch, Dung Quyet mountain (where the Emperor issued an edict to build the capital Phuong Hoang on October 1, 1788) for people to worship and burn incense.

On this occasion, at the temple of Emperor Quang Trung, Vinh city coordinated with the Thanh Hoa Cultural Heritage and Antiquities Association - Thanh Hoa province to cast 02 cannons using traditional manual methods. This is an activity to pay tribute and review the glorious feats and the spirit of 'Hundred battles, hundred victories' of the cloth-clothed hero Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue.
Each cannon weighs 1 ton, is 1.92m long, and is cast from pure red copper. The cannon will be presented to Emperor Quang Trung on January 5, 2018, on the occasion of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory anniversary.
