Truong said that around July, he knew that many people wanted to buy cheap motorbikes and cars, so he went online to find customers and make deals. Truong created the Xuan Hung Motorbike page for transactions.
A woman residing in Soc Son district was told by Truong that she had many illegal vehicles without papers, so they were cheap. She agreed to buy a Piaggio Liberty for 7 million VND and a Nissan car for about 4,000 USD (nearly 100 million VND).
To gain her trust, Truong copied pictures from the internet and sent them to her for preview, and arranged a face-to-face transaction. With the aim of robbing the victim of money, Truong prepared a number 8 lock, a shirt that looked like a bulletproof vest... to play the role of an anti-smuggling police officer.
On the evening of September 4, knowing that the female passenger was sitting in the taxi, Truong approached, pulled out a number 8 lock, locked the victim's hands and declared: "I am a police officer of C74 - Anti-smuggling Police Department, you have been arrested."
The school pulled the woman out of the taxi and searched her pockets for her belongings, but she resisted. At the same time, the victim's husband appeared and assisted his wife in arresting the man and taking him to the police station.
