In addition to building a net house to cover the surrounding area, Ms. Quy also installed an automatic sprinkler system in the melon beds; bought bamboo tubes and nets to stretch into rows to make space for the cucumbers. When the melons are close to harvest, the fruit is oval-shaped, with a smooth yellow skin, and the inside is also yellow and sweet; the current market price is from 20,000 - 25,000 VND/kg.

According to Ms. Quy, the melon takes about 60 - 70 days to harvest; the Kim Hoang Hau melon variety has a higher yield than other melons. After harvesting, it only needs to be kept in a cool, dry place and can be preserved for a month. The melons that are kept for a long time have a darker yellow skin and are sweeter, and are currently very popular with consumers. In the coming season, the family will expand the area to meet market demand.
