Additional 8,000 billion VND to support housing for meritorious people

The Government has agreed to add 8,140 billion VND to support housing for 313,707 households with revolutionary contributions (Total of both phases is over 11,000 billion VND to support over 410,000 households).

Pursuant to the Ordinance on preferential treatment for people with revolutionary contributions and Resolution No. 494/NQ-UBTVQH13 on housing support for households with revolutionary contributions living in temporary houses or severely damaged houses from the state budget and mobilizing the participation of society and families, on April 26, 2013, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 22/2013/QD-TTg to support people with revolutionary contributions in housing.

On that basis, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has promptly issued documents directing and guiding implementation; closely coordinated with relevant ministries and branches to regularly urge and remind localities to implement in accordance with procedures and regulations.

As of June 2017, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has appraised the list and coordinated with the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning and Investment and localities to support over 300,000 households with a budget of over VND 8,000 billion. Phase 1 has been completed with 80,000 households supported with a budget of VND 2,758 billion.

At the Government meeting on July 4, 2017, the Government agreed to add VND 8,140 billion to support 313,707 households (Total of both phases is over VND 11,000 billion to support over 410,000 households). On the other hand, the inspection of the implementation of housing policies was also carried out by the leaders of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs through coordination with ministries and branches working in many localities such as: Phu Tho, An Giang, Long An, Hanoi, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ha Nam, Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City...

At the same time, in 2014, the National Assembly also passed the Housing Law, which also stipulated that people with revolutionary contributions are entitled to social housing support policies, specifying the Party's goals and viewpoints in caring for and supporting housing for people with revolutionary contributions.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will continue to coordinate with ministries and branches to strengthen inspection and supervision of localities in the process of implementing this policy.
