The luxury car line QX70 will be 'discontinued' in 2018
Nissan's luxury car company will stop producing the QX70 from 2018, reserving resources to launch the new generation of the QX50.
Infiniti Automotive News representative said the company will stop selling the QX70 in 2018, after 15 years on the market and through 2 generations.
For the media, this is strange news, because in the crossover trend that is the "golden goose" of the market, Nissan's luxury car company has discontinued such a typical name. In fact, this is not the end. The model that will replace the QX70 is the new generation QX50.

The new QX50 will have a similar design to the QX70. The new compact crossover is expected to become the company's best-selling vehicle. However, customers will have to wait until 2021 or 2022 to get the car, a long time, equivalent to the current product life cycle.
With the QX70 gone, customers may consider turning to rivals like the BMW X5 or Mercedes GLE-class; or Infiniti's own models, like upgrading to the QX60 or the compact QX50. The QX70 is considered a sportier version of the QX60, just as the BMW X6 is a sportier version of the X5.
When it was first introduced, the QX70 was highly regarded in the luxury crossover segment. Over the past two generations, market tastes have changed. Infiniti had two options: kill the QX70 or redesign it to make it new. The company chose to kill it.
According to experts, the discontinuation of QX70 production is not due to the model's inferiority in the market, but simply a strategy to focus on core products, especially when QX80 and QX50 are both ready to launch.
