The luxury QX70 model will be discontinued in 2018.
Nissan's luxury car division will cease production of the QX70 from 2018, focusing its resources on the next generation of the QX50.
According to Infiniti Automotive News, the company will discontinue sales of the QX70 in 2018, after 15 years on the market and two generations.
For the media, this is strange news, because in the current crossover market, which is a "golden goose," Nissan's luxury car brand is discontinuing such a prominent model. In reality, this isn't the end. The model that will replace the QX70 is the new generation QX50.

The new QX50 will have a similar design to the QX70. The new compact crossover is expected to become the brand's best-selling model. However, customers will have to wait until 2021 or 2022 to receive their vehicles, a considerable amount of time, equivalent to a current product lifecycle.
With the absence of the QX70, customers may consider switching to rivals such as the BMW X5 or Mercedes GLE-class; or even Infiniti models themselves, such as upgrading to the QX60 or the smaller QX50. The QX70 is considered the sportier version of the QX60, just as the BMW X6 is the sportier version of the X5.
The QX70 was highly regarded in the luxury crossover segment when it was first launched, but over two generations, market tastes have changed. Infiniti faced two options: discontinue the QX70 or redesign it to refresh its image. The company chose to discontinue it.
According to experts, the discontinuation of the QX70 is not due to its inferiority in the market, but simply a strategy to focus resources on core products, especially with the QX80 and QX50 both ready to launch.
