The new generation of Honda City's rival has just been launched in India, with seat cooling feature - a first-in-segment feature.

A year after its debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in China, the new generation of Accent, also known as Verna depending on the market, has arrived in India. Once the segment leader, the new generation Accent returns with changes that demonstrate its ambition to regain the throne.

The sedan is based on the new K2 architecture, with a sharp design inspired by the new generation Elantra. The new generation also brings a series of features and equipment superior to the previous generation.

Hyundai India offers the new Accent with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. There is no longer a 1.4-litre engine option. The 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 123bhp and 151Nm of torque, while the diesel engine of the same capacity produces 126bhp and 260Nm of torque.Front disc brake system and rear drum brake.

Notable features include projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen and Arkamys sound system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, rear seat air vents, and front seat cooling.

The new generation Accent is also slightly larger in size, increasing interior space. The cargo compartment capacity is also larger than the previous generation.

The car is sold in India with 4 new colors (white, red, brown, orange) in addition to 3 old colors (gray, silver and black). The suggested retail price starts from 12,500 USD for the low-end version Accent E MT petrol engine and the highest is 19,700 USD for the diesel version Accent SX+ AT. The Accent's competitors in India are Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz - the pair that together dominate the segment in the second most populous country in the world.
