New news about the female ward secretary running the lottery line

Secretary of the Party Committee of My Dinh 1 Ward (Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) Nguyen Thi Thuan may be dismissed or expelled from the Party for running a lottery line.

At the City Party Committee's press conference this afternoon, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Nam Tu Liem District Party Committee Nguyen Khanh Thang informed about the arrest of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan, Secretary of the My Dinh 1 Ward Party Committee, to investigate the act of organizing gambling in the form of lottery recording.

Mr. Thang said that on December 11, 2015, Nam Tu Liem District Police arrested Bui Thi Hoa for selling lottery tickets in My Dinh 1 Ward. At the scene, the police seized 14 million VND and a lottery ticket.

At the police station, the subject confessed that he had called and passed the board to Nguyen Van Tien (husband of the Party Secretary of My Dinh 1 Ward) to make transactions with customers. The total amount of money this line transacted was over 4.1 billion VND and the illegal profit was over 400 million VND.

On March 27, the People's Court of Nam Tu Liem District opened a trial for the case. At the court, Hoa testified that she delivered the daily lottery boards to Tien, met Nguyen Thi Thuan - Secretary of the Party Committee of My Dinh 1 Ward many times at Tien's house and Thuan knew about these lottery boards.

Based on new details according to Hoa's testimony in court, Nam Tu Liem District People's Court requested additional investigation into Thuan's role in this case.

At the investigation agency, Nguyen Thi Thuan initially claimed to have no connection with the lottery line. However, after examining the signature sample, it was discovered that 21/24 lottery boards had writings written by Nguyen Thi Thuan.

According to Mr. Thang, during the investigation of the case, Nguyen Thi Thuan submitted a resignation letter. The Nam Tu Liem District Party Committee also announced that it agreed to assign the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of My Dinh 1 Ward to be in charge of the ward's Party affairs.

After receiving the results of the forensic examination from the Institute of Criminal Science - Ministry of Public Security, the Investigation Police Agency prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Thi Thuan.

On July 27, the Standing Committee of Nam Tu Liem District Party Committee suspended Nguyen Thi Thuan from work. The District Party Committee also directed the suspension of her performance of her duties as a ward People's Council delegate.

Mr. Thang said that currently, the Nam Tu Liem District Party Committee also requested the police to quickly conclude the investigation and bring the case to trial. Depending on the court's results, the District will have appropriate further actions such as removing or expelling Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan from the Party.
