Storm No. 10 makes landfall, Nghe An requests large-capacity rescue ship to Cua Lo for rescue
(Baonghean.vn) - With a level 4 natural disaster, post-disaster level, storm No. 10 is threatening 25 localities, in which provinces from Nghe An to Quang Binh are directly affected.
On the morning of September 14, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung chaired an online meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (PCTT) to deploy direction and response to storm No. 10.

The Prime Minister has issued an urgent dispatch with 14 groups of tasks assigned to ministries, branches and localities.
The Border Guard Command announced that there are currently 4,679 ships at sea. Ministries and sectors have also issued telegrams directing relevant units to deploy proactive measures to respond to the storm.
At the online meeting, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reported to the Deputy Prime Minister: Nghe An identified storm No. 10 as a strong and dangerous storm, directly affecting Nghe An.
Nghe An has seriously implemented the telegrams of the Prime Minister and the Steering Committee for Storm Prevention and Control. At 10:00 a.m. this morning, the province will hold an online meeting across the province on storm prevention and control work No. 10. And this afternoon, the Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee will inspect storm prevention and control work No. 10 in the localities.
Nghe An has 4,016 boats, currently 887/6378 workers are still at sea. The boats at sea are on their way back and are expected to return safely this afternoon. All fishing boats have received notice of the storm. Nghe An province has 625 reservoirs, up to now 268 are full of water, the remaining 357 have only 70-80% water level. Nghe An province has issued 3 dispatches to direct and respond to storm No. 10 from September 13 to the morning of September 14. Deploy calls for all boats to take shelter; resolutely prohibit all boats and means of transport from going to sea.

In the mountainous areas of Nghe An, locations at risk of landslides, underpasses, overflows, and traffic jams have been checked so that people can be aware and avoid them. Nghe An has also developed plans to prevent flooding in urban areas and cities, directed pumping stations to drain water, and checked plans to evacuate people, especially those in coastal and estuary areas.
Nghe An also proposed that the Central Government allow large-capacity rescue ships to enter Cua Lo port for rescue when necessary.
Regarding fishing boat NA 2506 TS of Dien Chau district that crashed into a reef at sea at 4:00 a.m. on September 13, 2017, by 10:00 a.m. on September 13, the Border Guard Command had brought 2 crew members and assets on the ship to shore to ensure safety. By 5:00 p.m. on September 13, the ship was towed to shore.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung requested: Storm No. 10 is the strongest storm ever, localities must focus highly and effectively on storm prevention work. Continue to strictly implement the telegrams of the Prime Minister and the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention. The Central Hydrometeorological Station continues to monitor and update the situation. Focus highly on inspection work at the grassroots level.
The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested: Localities ban the sea from today, September 14, focus on calling on ships to take shelter in safe places, focus on harvesting summer-autumn rice, ensure safety for oil and gas exploitation activities at sea, focus on flood and flash flood prevention. The storm's circulation will leave serious consequences, so ministries, departments and sectors need to be proactive in responding./.
