As reported by Nghe An Newspaper: On the evening of August 18, staff at Nghe An 115 Hospital were beaten in the emergency room. The two medical staff who were beaten were doctor Hoang Thi Minh and nurse Le Quang Hoa. The person who abused the two medical staff was Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoang Thang - Director of Tan Thang Construction Joint Stock Company.

On August 22, Nghe An General Hospital 115 sent a quick report to Nghe An Department of Health. On the morning of August 23, the hospital officially reported the incident. The content of these two reports is not different.

According to the report, at 9:30 p.m. on August 18, the Emergency Department of Nghe An General Hospital 115 received a patient named Nguyen Van Nam (26 years old, residing in Hamlet 6, Ngoc Son Commune, Do Luong District) who had a traffic accident.

Dr. Hoang Thi Minh - who was on duty that day, examined the patient. The patient was conscious, mentally stable, and had facial edema. After examining her, Dr. Minh suspected that the patient had a broken cheekbone, so she explained the patient's condition to those accompanying her and ordered her to have an X-ray.

Nurse Hoang Thi Ngoc (Examination Department) who was on duty that night was assigned to take the patient for X-ray. While Doctor Nguyen Thi Quynh Trang and nurse Hoang Thi Ngoc were still with the patient and asked the person accompanying them to bring the documents (the X-ray order was for the family to bring to do administrative procedures) to take the patient for X-ray, a group of strangers appeared in the Emergency Room.

"A tall man, wearing glasses, holding a phone, loudly said that the patient had been in for a long time without being done anything, without being cared for. Doctor Minh replied to this person that he had examined her and ordered an X-ray. The nurses were preparing to take the patient for an X-ray. This man pointed at Doctor Minh's face, cursed profanely and rushed at Doctor Minh, hitting her in the face and head many times, causing Doctor Minh to become dizzy, unable to stand, and had to lean against the wall behind her.

At this time, seeing his colleague being beaten, Mr. Le Quang Hoa (Nurse of the Emergency Resuscitation and Anti-Poison Department) came to stop him, asking this man not to beat the doctor, but he continued to curse, pointing at nurse Le Quang Hoa's face and demanding to beat him. Someone ran out to stop him, nurse Hoa and doctor Minh went into the duty room and closed the door. The man continued to chase after him. He and another person holding a plastic chair rushed into the room to demand to beat doctor Minh and nurse Hoa inside, but some people intervened, so both of them were pushed out of the room.

Unable to beat the medical staff any further, the tall, bespectacled, blue-shirted man continued to curse, threaten to kill, and shouted to those with him, “Beat him to death.” He also repeatedly called someone to come to the hospital to continue the assault.

At this time, the on-duty team called to inform the leader on duty that night, Master, Doctor Nguyen Minh Tan. Doctor Tan was the one who called for help from the 113 Police force and Nghi Phu Commune Police. When the functional forces arrived, this group of people left the on-duty team alone to work. The patient was then taken to the X-ray room, and on the morning of August 19, 2017, he underwent surgery to combine the cheekbones. Currently, the patient is being treated at the Hospital's Department 3 (RHM- ENT- Ophthalmology).

That night and the following days, Dr. Minh and nurse Hoa were present when requested by Nghi Phu Commune Police. The case is currently being handled by Nghi Phu Commune Police, Vinh City.

The report stated: "The entire staff of General Hospital 115 is extremely upset and indignant at the assault and battery of medical staff by the relatives of patient Nam. We request that the health sector and relevant authorities intervene, punish these people appropriately, and protect medical staff so that we can work with peace of mind, care for and treat patients better"./.
