Con Cuong deploys planting of 5,200 American melon trees for the second crop

(Baonghean.vn) - After the success of the first melon crop, Chi Khe Commune Seedling Agricultural Cooperative (Con Cuong) is planting 5,200 American melon trees for the second crop in 2017 according to VietGap standards.

After completing the first melon harvest (5,000 plants yielded 7 tons of melons, earning over 200 million VND in profit), Chi Khe Commune Seedling Agricultural Cooperative began preparing the land and continued to plant 5,200 new American melon trees.

Up to now, the cooperative has planted 2,200 trees at 15 days old, the trees have grown 4-5 leaves, and is continuing to sow seeds for 3,000 trees, and it is expected that 10 days after sowing, they will be planted in pots.

The total cost of seedlings is 26 million. It is expected that after 3 months the entire melon area will be ready for harvest.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chi Khe Commune Seedling Agricultural Cooperative, Con Cuong said: After harvesting the first melon crop quite effectively, we immediately deployed the second melon crop. The melons that have been planted are growing very well, in about 5 days we will plant the remaining melons.

Learning from the previous crop, this melon crop we focus on intensive farming techniques to achieve higher productivity and efficiency. We plan to harvest this melon crop right on Tet holiday.
