PV: As the head of Nghe An's health sector, what can you say about the recent violence against medical staff?
Pharmacist Hoang Van Hao:Through monitoring at some medical facilities in the area, recently there has been a sad situation where patients and their relatives have been violent towards medical staff. We believe that this is an uncultured behavior, a serious violation of the law and society needs to condemn those who commit such acts.
According to incomplete statistics, in Nghe An in the past few years there have been about 5 cases of patients' relatives attacking doctors, some doctors were even seriously injured.
We think that, in the coming time, all sectors and levels need to take timely and effective action to prevent violent behavior (including uncivilized actions and words) against health workers.
PV: What measures has the Nghe An health sector taken to prevent violence against medical staff?
Pharmacist Hoang Van Hao:Maintaining security and order in hospitals is one of the tasks of the health sector. To carry out this task, we have proactively requested medical units to properly implement professional procedures and regulations; continue to improve service attitude and spirit, aiming at patient satisfaction.
The health sector directs medical examination and treatment units to contract with specialized units, strengthen protection work, and remotely prevent subjects with extremist behavior or abusive words; medical units have close coordination with local police units to perform well the task of maintaining security and order inside and outside the unit.
To prevent more effectively, it is thought that the State needs to have stricter regulations, legal documents, and sanctions to prevent possible behaviors and strictly handle violators.
Reporter: The vast majority of acts of violence against medical staff are related to alcohol consumption. Should there be regulations prohibiting people who have just consumed alcohol or stimulants (except emergency patients) from going to medical facilities for examination and treatment?
Pharmacist Hoang Van Hao:Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to psychoneurotic agitation, making it impossible to control one's actions and words in public and crowded places. Therefore, limiting alcohol in offices in general and in hospitals is very necessary.
To prohibit people who have just consumed alcohol or stimulants (except emergency patients) from going to medical facilities, it is necessary to have permission from competent authorities by issuing legal documents; at the same time, the entire political and social system must also participate in propaganda, mobilization, supervision and joint handling.
Currently, in all units in general, there are regulations prohibiting the use of alcohol, carrying weapons, explosives, etc. Units need to take measures to strictly implement those regulations./.
Thank you!
