The authorities of Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc have decided to administratively fine Hoang Thi Lieu (21 years old), a worker, residing in Hoang Lau Commune, Tam Duong District (Vinh Phuc) 10 million VND for the act of "Providing false information, slander, distortion, insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations and personal honor and dignity".

Previously, on July 20, a personal Facebook account named Elyna Hoang posted information about "The kidnappers have arrived in Binh Dinh commune, Yen Lac district". Just a few hours after posting, this information had 100 reactions, 70 comments and 45 shares on social networks. This extremely sensitive information caused confusion and mixed comments on Facebook, creating anxiety for many people.

Vinh Yen City Police have determined that the information posted above is completely fabricated. Vinh Yen City Police have also investigated and verified that the person who posted this information on ELyna Hoang's account is Hoang Thi Lieu. After being invited to the police station for questioning, Hoang Thi Lieu admitted all of her wrongdoings.

Lieu confessed that on July 20, he used his personal phone to post false information related to the child kidnapping case on his personal Facebook page, ELyna Hoang. At the police station, Lieu expressed remorse for his actions and promised not to repeat the offense.

This is not the first case of posting false rumors on Facebook to "get likes". Previously, the Hanoi Police Department used CNC to clarify the identity of the girl who spread false news about a plane crash at Noi Bai airport on Facebook to "get likes" as Pham Thi Mui (27 years old, living in Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi). Mui admitted to taking pictures from another Facebook account to share on her personal page to get likes to sell online.

At the police station, Pham Thi Mui initially admitted to taking the image of the plane crash from another Facebook account to share on her Facebook, along with the address at Noi Bai International Airport to make people believe it was real. Spreading this false information violated Point g, Section 3, Article 66 - Decree 174/CP and the penalty for this act is from 10 to 20 million VND.
