Cockfighting ring busted, 40 people arrested

On the afternoon of August 18, Ha Tinh Provincial Police raided the house of Ms. Tran Thi Cam Tu in Bac Hong Ward, Hong Linh Town and arrested more than 40 people who were gambling in the form of cockfighting. Many people climbed onto the roof to escape but were arrested.

At the scene, police seized many fighting cocks, many motorbikes, cell phones and other exhibits.

At around 4:30 p.m., the police force completed the scene report and escorted the suspects to the Hong Linh town police headquarters.

People living near the house that organizes this cockfighting arena said that cockfighting and betting activities have taken place here many times, over a long period of time.

The police have not yet provided the identities of the participants and the evidence seized at this gambling den.
